How can one’s social status and personality change the definition of savagery? Do all humans take the same approach towards savagery or does one’s personality “change’ the way savagery is used? Generally, anyone can become savage, therefore the main components need to be seeked out to find out why people can become savage from environment and simply how one may approach it. Why? Well, personality can determine an individual's approach to committing acts of savagery. George R.R Martin once said, “There is a savage beast in every man, and when you hand that man a sword or spear and send him forth to war, the beast stirs.” This implausible quote by George R.R Martin gives the true definition to savagery;

Shifting back to The Lord Of the Flies, Jack and his group of hunters were determined to slaughter and kill a pig for food, but little did they they know they had the capability to do this with ease because of the instinctive response of savagery: “…The ground was hardened by an accustomed tread and as Jack rose to his full height he heard something moving on it. He swung back his right arm and hurled the spear with all his strength” (Golding, 49). With the skill of survival and having the capability to hunt, Jack is the best one to handle situations that requires savagery for survival. This quote by William Golding shows that human hunting and savagery can come in handy when having to kill for survival. The piece of text also shows that Jack not only has the capability to be savage but he has the capability to survive on the island because of his far state in savagery. In The Lord of the Flies Jack and the rest of the boys on the island had mistaken Simon as the beast that lingers on the island. Since Jack obviously felt terrible for his misconception, he wanted to convince the rest of the boys in the group that the beast had disguised itself to look like Simon: “‘He came-disguised. He may come again even though we gave him the head of out kill to eat. so watch; and be careful’” (Golding 160). knowing that Jack felt bad for what he did and him wanting to not let the rest of the boys to feel the same, he convinced them that the beast was real. Which is why Jack has been able to make the boys vulnerable to savagery in the first place. His social status as a leader has make him seem as a reliable source of wisdom. But in a different perspective, he has made the rest lean towards savagery and thus, the entire environment has changed into a harsh
