Racing Extinction
In Costa Rica Scarlet Macaws were seen flying freely in the pollution free sky. The birds were then seen less and less over generations due to humans wanting to keep the colorful bird as pets. Scarlet Macaws are now down to only 200 birds. If nothing is done to save these beautiful birds, they will disappear forever and future generations will not have the chance to experience seeing them flying freely. Scarlet Macaws are not the only animals being targeted by selfish humans other animals like elephants, tigers, monkeys and pandas are all on the endangered list. Scientist believe that one half of earth's higher life for will become extinct by 2100 is nothing is done to stop it. Humans are the primary cause of extinction

Biodiversity is important because it essential for the environment. For example "as many as one-third of the world’s food production relies directly or indirectly on insect pollination. About 130 of the crops grown in the United States are insect pollinated" (Economic Benefits of Biodiversity). Biodiversity plays an important role in the economy by providing essential organic products. Cultural diversity is the quality of diverse cultures or having different cultures respect each others differences. If children grow up witnessing other cultures that are unlike their own they will learn to respect the unique cultures around the world. Cultural diversity is important because it helps different cultures learn about each other and appreciate each other. Aesthetic biodiversity is the admiration of beauty taste and creation. For example "in North America, protected wild areas where indigenous organisms live undisturbed give people a sense of satisfaction in knowing that there are bears and wolves and rare plants and insects that still exist on their continent"(Erlich). Aesthetic biodiversity is admiring the beauty in organisms like the beautiful Scarlet Macaws. Biodiversity plays a crucial role in the planet because it not only produces products that are healthy for both animals and the environment but also teaches
