Imagine constant pain, anguish, and fear. Scrounging for food and never knowing when it was your turn to die. Then, suddenly a savior arrives, saving you from certain death. This is a story told in the 1993 film Schinders List directed by Steven Spielberg. The Holocaust was a terrible event that occured and Oskar Schindler underwent a change that led to the salvation 1,200 Jews. He was an exellent man towards the end of the war and the movie did an amazing job of portraying the issues involved in the Holocaust. I am not an expert on the Holocaust, however, by comparing Schindlers List to a book called Night, the two had a lot of similar things occurring. Steven Spielburgs decision to shoot the film in black and White made it seem accurate. Personally, whenever I think of actually things that occued In WWII, I think in black and white because the videos from that time were not in color. The movie being in black and white made the story feel true becuase it can seem like the events never happened due to how terrible they were. The sound also played an important rolein the movie. The songs sent the tones of the scenes and they were so perfectly paired. The music was so moving that without it, the film would not have had as much impact. Lastly, the movie was graphic. The movie did not try and make the Holocaust seem nice in any way. Oskar Schindler saved over 1,000 Jews, but the movie also showed how he also killed one as well. The scenes of nudity also helped because it matched up with what Night. In the book, the writer, Elie, describes the selection processes where prisoners had to run around naked for the doctors. The movie also portrayed this and showed how the doctors selected the weaker
