My desire to become a teacher evolved around my second grade teacher, who made each child in the class feel special. At this time I was a struggling reader with attention Deficit Disorder without special education services. There is not enough space to elaborate on mentor influence on my decision to become a teacher of young children. Today, twenty one years later valued mentor as I develop skills as a caring and competent early childhood educator. My journey on becoming the ultimate early childhood teacher has been and continues to be an exciting complex and challenging learning experience. At the onset of my training I was assured that my most important commitment as a teacher of young children must be my wholehearted allegiance to children. I have made that pledge. I am also committed to the profession and the ethical conduct and responsibilities to the National Association for the Education of Young Children and policies mandated by the State of Texas. Additionally, I make a commitment to myself as a teacher, a teacher who cares about the young children and policies mandated by the State of Texas.
