With the recent school shooting in Parkland, Florida at Marjory Douglas High School which claimed the lives of 17 children, there has been national debate on whether or not stricter gun laws need to be put in place to stop this kind of gun violence. Gun control is not the answer to school shootings, people are. There were signs this was going to happen way before the events on February 14th. Earlier in 2017, a tip was sent in to Florida’s FBI field inspector about a potential school shooter. With messages directing saying the perpetrator of this school shooting was going to become a school shooter. This tragic event could have been prevented if the FBI would have followed normal procedures which the FBI themselves admit they did not follow.
