To implement this goal, a committee of six internal and five external stakeholders will work together. Internal stakeholders consist of the assistant principal, student council representatives, teachers, media specialist, office staff, and the school improvement team (SIT). The PTO, local nonprofit organizations, and local newspapers make up the external stakeholders.
Serving as the project manager, the assistant principal will oversee the project ensuring that implementation is effective and timely. Using the school’s cell phone and video camera, students will video each session. For the day sessions, representatives will be selected who do not have a core class during the time frame; this will protect instructional time for the students. Student council members will rotate responsibilities during the evening sessions. With assistance from the media specialist, students will live stream the sessions on Facebook. In addition, the videoed sessions will be posted by students on the school’s webpage.
Working with the student council representatives, the media specialist will assist with live streaming the sessions on Facebook and posting the videos to the school’s webpage. To promote community and stakeholder awareness, the session dates will be posted on the school’s webpage and social media pages by the media specialist.
Teachers will welcome parents into the classroom and provide a nonthreatening learning environment. Lessons and collaborative learning activities that reflect the concepts currently being taught will be created by the reading, math, science, and social studies teachers. Parents and stakeholders, serving in the roles of learners, will have the opportunity to observe and participate in the lesson along side students.
