The three solutions take very different approaches to the same problem, giving each one several and disadvantages in comparison to each other. Although the first solution may seem logical, many are very skeptical, especially when considering the success of similar Acts in the past. Former United States Secretary of Education Arne Duncan referenced these failures when he said, “The bottom line is that—if we want different results we have to do things differently” (Duncan). In the quote taken from his article on increasing funding schools, Duncan argues that a different approach to solving the school to prison pipeline is needed. However, the implementation of school resource officers does not fall into the category of new approaches. Similar to an increase in funding, this solution has been tried in many schools, even making the school to prison pipeline worse in many situations (“The School-to-Prison Pipeline”). However the third solution is a completely different approach to solving the school to prison pipeline, and promises much success for the future of the American system of education.

By slowing down the flow of educated individuals into society, America could face a crisis from the lack of qualified workers.
