The purpose of the lab was to find evidence that a chemical reaction had been formed by mixing different chemicals. Signs of a chemical reaction are gases being produced, color change, precipitates formed, or temperature change. Materials used were varieties of liquids, solids and lab equipment. The procedures included observing the solids or liquids before mixing or heating them, how much of each substance should be used, rinse the test tubes after each observation, and finally clean the lab stations after finishing the lab. Observations made in the lab mainly involved color change, rust and gasses being produced. Pairs one and four produced bubbles which meant gasses were being produced, other experiments made rust which made the metals get rough and change color, and other tests changed colors such as numbers one, two, and five.
