Introduction
2H2O + light ↔ 2H2 + O2 Photocatalytic water splitting is greatly bottlenecked by the efficiency of the catalyst. Cost effectiveness also has a major role in choosing catalysts. If Manganese Dioxide is used in photocatalytic water splitting then the efficiency in splitting water and cost effectiveness is more then Cobalt Nitrate. I was introduced to this project during my experimentation with solar panels in 5th grade and algae creating hydrogen in 7th grade. During the night, solar panels could not acquire energy. There was not an optimal way to store the energy of solar panels so after dusk, the user of the panels could not benefit from the energy. Photocatalytic water splitting is an optimal way to store energy as it uses the energy to create hydrogen in which can be reverted into energy. Normal water splitting is a tedious process without a catalyst and effiency without a catalyst is rather abysmal.

This equation is normal water splitting. To speed up the effect water splitting a catalyst that aids with oxygen-oxygen bond formation between to oxygen atoms from water to create oxygen gas.
A + B + energy → C
This equation is photocatalytic water splitting with a catalyst. To split water, potential energy is removed from the electrons. If the potential is too high, it becomes over potential which is wasted heat making the process less efficient.

Procedure
Cut the wires for the circuit.
Strip a centimeter of insulation of the ends of the wire using a wire stripper to create the connection.
Connect the batteries so that the negative end of a battery connects to the positive end of another battery.
Connect the positive end of the series of batteries to the breadboard power bus.
Connect the 10k Ohm resistor. ( should be connected to the same column of the positive end)
Connect the positive (red) lead from the voltimeter/multimeter to the breadboard. (left half of the breadboard)
Connect the
