In science class, we have been working on science inquiry process. Science inquiry has a lot of steps to make the whole process. We asked questions, made a hypothesis and we set up our experiment and gathered our data for 6 days. And ended the experiment with our conclusion. The purpose of the potato lab was to use the steps of science inquiry process to investigate a question. We did research to see what are other people's opinion for the best ways to have a potato to sprout at home, we used this information to to make a question. The question we were investigating during this lab was “ What conditions are necessary for a potato to sprout? “ The reason we chose to do this experiment was because we wanted to know what conditions potatoes grew the …show more content…
We tested for two variables. The variables we tested were the amount of moisture and the amount of light. The conditions we set up were dry/light, dry/dark, wet/light, wet/dark. To first start this investigation we gathered our supplies, four plastic bags, four potato slices with skin, water, paper towel sheets, and a sharpie marker. Then, our second step was to set our experiment up. We first started by taking the sharpie and labeling each plastic bag with a different condition, our table number(7), and our class period(J). Then we took 2 paper towel sheets and folded them in four sections and poured some water on them. With those two sheets we placed them in the two bags that had moisture condition. We then took another paper towel sheet and ripped it in half, folded each half in two, then placed it in the plastic bag that had a dry condition. We then placed one potato slice in each bag then sealed it. To end the setup of the experiment we placed each bag where it need to be according to it conditions. The ones that had to do with light stayed on the counter. The ones with dark went into a
