This article explains and elaborates on the health risk that is forever increasing in Beijing China. Pollution is becoming such an issue that parents are taking extra precautions to keep their children safe. Many parents have their children stay inside instead of going out to play, and the teachers at the local schools check an hourly pollution monitor to recommend whether or not it is a good idea to go outside for recess and to play. Schools have begun to construct domes that are regulated and can be used for physical activity and exercise. Doctors have been brought to the schools to make the children and faculty more aware of the pollution circumstances. The days that are too highly polluted to go outside are called “red flag” days and recently many families are opting to leave china because of the high consistency of red flag days and the constant scare of pollution. It is noted in the article that job opportunities are still as abundant as ever and the education programs are just as rigorous, but families are becoming more health conscious and the research shows harsher effects on children that are exposed to the pollution at such a young age. I thought it was interesting that in China where the pollution is high there are pay bonus ranging from 10 to 30 percent. In Beijing at this time the pay bonus is 15 percent, and still many people are turning it down. It is so sad that families have to result to children wearing face masks just to make it through a daily
