Although the book Island of the Blue Dolphins was about a real girl who actually lived, there are still a number of facts that Scott O’Dell missed. O’Dell did not use all real facts. This book definitely has some missing facts.

For one thing, in the book, Karana jumps into the ocean for her brother named Ramo. But in the real life account, Jauna Maria came back to save her son. Why would Scott O’Dell do that? So, all this proves that not all in this book is fact. In my opinion, if you’re writing a novel about a person, try to make it as realistic as you can.

By way of example, Scott O’Dell also wrote that she was left behind at a certain age, an age that does not line up with the true story of the Lone Woman of San Nicolas Island. In the
