While waiting outside the gate of a Major League Baseball stadium with his kids, a reporter came up to Scott Starkweather and ask, “If you caught one of the money balls that are going to be hit into the stands tonight, what would you do with the money?” When Scott Starkweather answered the question, the report was shocked. The reporter had asked the same question to hundreds of people who answered with saying they would spend the money on a house, a luxury car, or expensive clothing, but that was not Scott Starkweather’s answer. His answer was, “I would donate it to help finding a cure for cancer”. He was both are seventh and eighth grade assistant basketball coach. His competitive spirit was demonstrated right of the bat during the first day of basketball practice. I could tell that Coach Starkweather was a competitive person because he always wanted to win, no matter how big or small the game/activity was. Scott Starkweather grew up playing many of sports as a child, which is where a majority of his competitive nature was born. I also got to experience the competitive Coach Starkweather through high school when he was the varsity assistant golf coach and one of the varsity assistant basketball coaches. His competitive nature rubbed off on me and my teammates which made us better competitors while on the course or court. Scott Starkweather also is a very passionate man, whether it’s loving sports, his middle school students, or his love for the Lord. “Starky” is a burning passion for specifically
