The Scottsboro boys were nine young blacks that came from all over the south, and most of them were from Georgia. All of them had had a very rough life and had gotten into trouble with the law before this incident. The boys consisted of Olen Montgomery, Clarence Norris, Haywood Patterson, Ozie Powell, Willie Robertson, Charles Weems, Eugene Williams, Andrew Wright, and Leroy Wright. They met each other while traveling around the country to find work during the Great Depression.
