Africa, the second most populous continent in the world has a significant amount of history. The scramble for Africa was the most impactful event in African history. The Scramble for Africa was also called the Imperialism period. The imperialism period, ranged from 1880-1914, it began with the Europeans greed. Europeans viewed the great land of Africa as a selfish fortune. Africa is filled with many valuables, such as ivory, gold, salt, and diamonds. Africa’s essence is remarkable and the Europeans began terrorizing it in 1881. European settler’s interrogation forced the division of cultures, families, and tribes. European settlers like David Livingstone and H.M. Staley, mapped southern Africa and central Africa. The map of Africa was created by Europeans which began colonizing.
As years passed, the Europeans became more aware of Africa’s vast amount of resources. For instance, the Nile is one of the important resources in the continent. The Scramble for Africa caused the continent and is people to lose an extensive list of possessions. Europe stole their independence, captured and enslaved them, and diminished and ridiculed their culture. Each tribe and family in Africa was filled with such uniqueness and essence until the Europeans invaded. The African traditions can no longer be passed along from generation to generation. Instead the European traditions were taught to Africans which revoked their originality and native teachings. Also, many Africans begin to rebel against one another, which destroyed the unity.
