Ghost Story There was a loud creak but I just carried on walking because I thought it was me, ‘BANG’, that couldn’t have been me, I thought to myself, my legs were shaking with horror as I now knew that I was not alone. I was standing still to try and convince whatever was with me that i was just a statue, i tried to hold my breath as long as I could but I felt like I was about to faint. All of a sudden I felt something go through me, I couldn’t be silent anymore, “Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh”, I screamed at the top of my voice, I knew now it was a ghost. I ran as fast as I could into the dining room, hid under the table, closed my eyes and hoped that the ghost wouldn’t find me. It had been quite a while now so I opened my eyes, the ghost was there staring at me. I just stood still and hoped he or she thought I was a statue again, I just had to get out of there and forgetting that I was under a table I zoomed off the floor hitting my head really hard on the wooden table. I felt dizzy so I tried to stand up but I just collapsed. I woke up from the rain pouring on me; I was now outside the house. I wondered maybe the ghost carried me outside, I suddenly started to hear voices saying, “Come to the house, come to the house,” I was getting scared now so I tried to ring my mum, but it went to voice mail, it was weird because it said exactly the same as the voices I heard from the house, I was getting really scared now and the only place that I would be safe was my house,…
The turtle in the Grapes of Wrath symbolizes us and how we endure hardships like the turtle. The turtle showed resilience when crossing the road similar to how we show resilience when an obstacle is put in front of us. The turtle is as determined and focused on crossing the road as we are when trying to overcome an obstacle.
When the turtle is crossing the street it is hit by a car and flipped over. The turtle…

The largest living chelonian is the leatherback sea turtle (Dermochelys coriacea), which reaches a shell length of 200 cm (6.6 ft) and can reach a weight of over 900 kg (2,000 lb). Freshwater turtles are generally smaller, but with the largest species, the Asian softshell turtle Pelochelys cantorii, a few individuals have been reported up to 200 cm (6.6 ft). This dwarfs even the better-known alligator snapping turtle, the largest chelonian in North America, which attains a shell length…
Turtles are reptiles of the order Chelonii or Testudines characterised by a special bony or cartilaginous shell developed from their ribs and acting as a shield. Turtle may refer to the chelonian order as a whole (American English) or to fresh-water and sea-dwelling chelonians (British English).
The order Chelonii or Testudines includes both extant (living) and extinct species. The earliest known turtles date from 220 million years ago, making turtles one of the oldest reptile groups…

insects moved, ants and ant lions to set traps for them, grasshoppers to jump into the air and flick their yellow wings for a second, sow bugs like little armadillos, plodding restlessly on many tender feet. And over the grass at the roadside a land turtle crawled, turning aside for nothing, dragging his high-domed shell over the grass: His hard legs and yellow-nailed feet threshed slowly through the grass, not really walking, but boosting and dragging his shell along. The barley beards slid off his…
A Decline of Turtles As We Know Them
Sea turtles are large air-breathing reptiles that spend the majority of their long lives in the open ocean waters. They have water-dynamic bodies, large protective shells, and wide flippers to propel them through open waters. Sea turtles reside in tropical and subtropical ocean waters in around the United States and Australia. Since sea turtles commonly reside in areas near the shore, they consume a variety of seaweed, crustaceans, algae and jellyfish. The prehistoric…
they are green. The upper shell of the turtle is called the carapace. The lower shell that encases the belly is called the plastron. The carapace and plastron are joined together on the turtle's sides by bony structures called bridges. The inner layer of a turtle's shell is made up of about 60 bones that include portions of the backbone and the ribs, meaning the turtle cannot crawl out of its shell. In most turtles, the outer layer of the shell is covered by horny scales called scutes that are part…

A single conservation strategy for a widely distributed species works about as well as a one-size-fits-all pair of sweat pants — too loose for some people, uncomfortably tight for others.
A species may be listed as critically endangered while some populations within its ranks are thriving and some are probably beyond saving. With leatherback turtles, for example, tens of thousands of nesting females…
