We can agree that everyone is in search for the American Dream, where one would live in a perfect world, with opportunity in abundance. Some how this scheme has been drilled in many of the minds of individuals that it’s possible but it has rarely been fulfilled. A great amount of human beings leave their comfort, family and friends just to find this false notion of living the perfect life. But the American Dream may not always be comparable in the perspective of two or more people. Songs are media messages, and each have an idea that it’s writer is trying to portray. What was once a small town, is now a highway, and in retrospect he says to himself “I wonder why progress looks so much like destruction.” (Steinbeck 181). His statement is comparable to the line “ The world was made to change, each day is a surprise. ” because everyday something is created, discovered, transformed or even removed. Similar to when Steinbeck discovered how dramatically the world changed, we all learn and acquire new information throughout life, and sometimes it may be destructive, symbolizing the loss of our innocence. ''Where we going, man? ''I don't know but we gotta go.” (Kerouac 196). Today we can witness a great amount of people having the urge to leave what they have for the unknown. For example, college students, what can one find at this college in another state that they can’t find locally. Once the student moves to a different location, nothing will be the same, take into consideration how one will not be around their family, friends, and what they’re familiar with. The line that best describes this situation is “I'm hoping and praying for a brighter day I listen to my heart and I obey”. We may not know exactly what the future may hold, but we’re going to be hopeful and follow what our heart is telling us to do.
