Boomtown should build its new apartments and houses on Seaside Cliff due to several reasons. First, the cliff is the most stable. Second, there is a great view of the ocean plus many water activities. Lastly, the cliff erodes the slowest. Due to all these reasons, the cliff is the most sensible place to build on.
First, the Seaside Cliff is the most stable. In Activity 26, we looked at the topographical maps of Boomtown over 100 years and concluded it had the least change out of the hillside, marsh, and cliff. This is because the hillside shifted inwards whereas the marsh expanded and the cliff expanded a tiny bit. The cliff had barely any change. This is crucial to Boomtown because the area where buildings are being constructed need to be stable and have little to nothing change so the buildings don’t break or do something worse.
Secondly, the Seaside Cliff has an excellent view of the ocean and contains many water activities. According to the report from Activity 35, “The

In Activity 31, we discovered that the cliff does not erode quickly due to the fact that the cliff is made out of rock. Rock is not easy to erode since it is so hard and dense. This is beneficial for Boomtown because if the cliff erodes slowly, there’s a lesser chance of houses and other construction from falling. Although many people say that cliff can break easily and is not suitable for construction, this is not true because there are ways to prevent breakage. According to the Activity 35 reports, “To prevent this [the cliff being undercut by water], barriers should be placed at the bottom of the cliff to protect it from the waves… Another way to slow down the erosion at the base of the cliff is to build a stone breakwater” (Reports From the Field). Though these preventions can be expensive, you are getting assurance the cliff won’t break. This is the trade-off; by giving money, you are getting the
