In this negotiation assignment, I was the job applicant who just got hired as an Assistant Attorney General for the Labor Division, Kansas City office. The position is considered part-time but provides full-time benefits and happens to be a job share opportunity. It means that another employee and I will be sharing the same title and work duties in the company. This position requires that I defend the state Second Injury Fund on behalf of the state treasurer and defend the state's Central Accident Reporting Office in workers' compensation claims as the assignment states. In terms of the base salary, I would receive a $50,000 base salary due to the position itself and the job hours that may sometimes be overwhelming. With there being so many benefits in the benefit package I will be stating them in detail one by one. We agreed that the company will be responsible for taking on the cost and any expenses of my health, dental, and vision insurance effective the first day of employment with the company. Two, that I had fifteen days of vacation time after the completion of the company's ninety day training program of which I will be gaining skills in the company's computer software programs, shadowing other head attorneys in the company, and gaining knowledge on the corporate culture of the company. Three, the company will pay for term life insurance equivalent to one year of my salary and I have the option to multiply six times that amount by purchasing additional coverage that is affordable based on my salary range, which is $50,000. Four, I have the option to purchase an accidental death insurance plan through the company on my own at an affordable cost under $50 monthly. Five, the company will provide both short-term and long-term disability in the amount of 70% of my base salary after completion of my first ninety days on the job. Another negotiation tool I used in the negotiation process were the instruments required to make a negotiation official as it pertains to “it being in writing, the benefits stating a fixed amount of money, and with the negotiation documents through email stating a specific demand (in this case a benefit) with a definite time frame” upon when the benefit will be available (Clark son, Miller, and Cross, 2015). Other tools includes salary negotiation with me biding for the highest suggestion for the salary offer (with $60,000) instead of directly asking for $50,000 (the lowest expected salary) in the first offer, I used the email to negotiate the matters to show a “greater emotional connection," I used my experience of which I assisted with trials (a part from my confidential information), I gave myself walk away power to put pressure on the Director to fulfill my obligations, and I used an negotiation agreement to complete the offer I accepted in the benefits package (Scott, 2010). I, also, used job sites like indeed to compare the average salary of what a Workers'
