Second Wave Civilizations: Persian Civilization

All of the five second wave civilizations were very powerful. For most of the civilizations they were large but continued to expand. China would take over most of Asia and have very strict laws to govern their people, Rome and Greece was smaller than China but just as powerful they held a smaller area of land but continued to expand into most of Europe and some of Asia. Persia was probably the most powerful out of all the civilizations, they started from nothing and expanded into largest of all the empires. The Second wave Civilizations were all powerful but the largest and most impressive empire was Persia. I will now go into depth for each of the separate empires. Persia located in the middle- east was the largest and most powerful out of most of the empires. Persia’s greatest extent of land was held under the Achaemenid dynasty, the Achaemenid dynasty was one of many dynasties that ruled over Persia. The Achaemenid Dynasty was the largest and most powerful out of all the Persian Dynasties. Persian held Egypt, Egypt was conquered by the Persian ruler Cyrus and his son Cambyses II. Cyrus the Great took over for his father before him and led the Persian armies against the Medes, Lydia and Babylon. Cyrus then died passing the torch to his son Cambyses II who ruled for 7 years continuing his father's work on the conquest of Egypt. After Cambyses death a power struggle took hold, Darius the Great ended up taking over, Darius had a tenuous relation the the royal chain but was declared king anyway. Darius’s first conquering was at Susa and continued conquering after that. Under Cyrus the Great, Cambyses II and Darius the Great, the Persian Empire eventually became the largest empire in human history up until that point, ruling and administering over most of the then known
