Football isn't just a sport, but more of a lifestyle. It takes dedication to not just play, but to finish job done. What most don't understand is that players spend countless hours practicing, lifting weights, and learning the plays. Football is a brotherhood, and every step they take whether it's on their old dusty field or its on the nicely turfed Brady Street stadium is a moment you will always remember. Most people can agree that football is the best sport that has been humanly created. This sport is one of the hardest sports to play; it doesn't matter if it's JJ Watt from the Houston Texans or little Jimmy from the local Pee Wee league. My Grandma once said, “No matter what age or what skill, you can do anything if you put your mind to it.” Football is a great way to become the man that one truly wants to be because it teaches young men responsibility, self control, and a strong work ethic. Self control is a big part of the marvellous game of football. It doesn't matter if it is Jacen Peterson on the d-line, hitting the offensive player, or trying to push his way to the quarterback. This means that self control becomes easier with time; players obtain this because of how much they must hold each other accountable. Defensive lineman need to have self control because they are waiting at the edge of the ball for it to snap. On the West High football team we do have one player named Leon that has found self control within himself. In his freshman year, Leon started and finished many fights that he should not have been in. He was dumb and immature. After he decided that football was more important than fighting, he started to change his ways and become more controlled. He is now contending for a starting running back spot on the varsity team. Since football has taught him to be more controlled, he is now excelling in the sport and doing very
