Auto- Ethnography- In my research I want to include how fashion has affected my own body. Every since I was younger I was interested in the world of fashion the models, clothes and the industry caught my attention. As I continued to grow older and was in high school it became to matter even more to me. The stores I loved to shop at usually only carried the standard “extra small, small, medium, and large” but what caught my attention was the company Brandy Melville. This company only carried “One Size”, this size was typically between a XS and S. There are many articles written about this company but one that caught my attention was from Spoon University. And that size is dictated by society.” This quote taken from this article is the exact problem I faced with this company. I was in love with their clothing and the Southern California look, I had to fit in it. The thought of not fitting into this brands clothing introduced me to dieting as a high schooler. In high school I already played a sport every season to stay in shape, so when I started dieting I worked out even after school as well. I began to eat less everyday and count my calories regularly, only eating salads for lunch and a smoothie for dinner. I wasn’t starving myself but a eating disorder was forming. I began to lose weight and I lost it quick, resulting in being able to fit into their clothing brand and anything else as well. Therefore, I believe fashion truly impacted my life because I was doing whatever I possibly could to be able to fit into the “One size only” brand, because I was so interested in their clothing, wanted to be like their models and didn’t
