The concept of self-fulfilling prophecy is closely associated with positive and negative thinking and the capacity of the human mind. It works on a simple belief―the way in which we think influences our behavior and actions (leaning towards what we are thinking) which ultimately affects our performance. For example, if I expect an individual to be shy, then I might not speak to them as much. After some time, this individual might seem shy to me and thus, confirming my expectation that they are indeed shy. As an aspiring clinical psychiatrist, I have to limit my expectations on how certain patients should behave.
