It’s an early morning on a Monday, a new year begins in a place most students would define as prison, school. Individuals walk through the hallways like zombies, walls and lockers are used as vertical beds, and freshmen can be seen hectically racing to their classes to be there ten minutes early. However, one group of students, the seniors, seem to have been struck with an epidemic of “senioritis.” Senioritis can be defined as sluggishness or laziness when it comes to school and homework that usually affects students in their senior year of high school and even college.
A senior high school student is seen walking through the hallways with droopy eyes and a frown depicting a lack of motivation, clear symptoms of senioritis. It is the second semester, a time when majority of students have a job lined up, are accepted into colleges, or are about to enlist into the military. Many are so caught up thinking about what is ahead of them that they completely forget their current situation. This is one of the leading causes of senioritis, daydreaming about the future rather than focusing on the present and the means needed to get to the future. It is important to understand the definition of senioritis in order to ensure that one does not exhibit the symptoms. If an individual identifies as “infected,” he or she must take the steps to prevent the imaginary “illness” from getting any worse.
