“The distinctions separating the social classes are false; in the last analysis, they rest on force” said by Albert Einstein. This quote by Albert Einstein explains that he thinks social classes are not that important but they are forced upon society. That is why social classes are created and society obeys them. Jane Austen thinks and portrays the same message in the book Pride and Prejudice. Jane Austen as the writer mocks the social classes with her decision on the structure, punctuation and also the word choice.

Jane Austen chose to use the structure of her writing in order to make fun of social classes. She chose the characters, Lady Catherine and Elizabeth. These characters are important because of their rank within society. Lady Catherine

Lady Catherine uses the words “ought” “suppose” “How was that possible” and “I never heard of such thing”. Which shows she thinks and acts like she knows everything. She also says “If I had to know your mother, I should have advised her most strength to engage one.”(Volume 2, Chapter 6, Page 165 ). With this Jane is showing that Lady Catherine tries to run everything, even Elizabeth, and her sister's life. Having Lady Catherine charter come off as controlling shows how the higher class is expected to act. The higher class has their own opinion and they get to speak there mind about it but the lower class did not get to speak their own opinion. Elizabeth uses the word like “Wished” “encouraged” “chosen” which shows that she was never forced into anything and has a mind of her own. Which is not anything lower classes are expected to do. Later in the passage, Elizabeth says the quote “The last-born has as good a right to the pleasures of youth as the first. And to be kept back on such a motive! I think it would not be very likely to promote sisterly affection or delicacy of mind” (Volume 2, Chapter 6, Page 166 ).
