Service animals have been used to help people with disability. Legally in the United States, only miniature horses and dogs are federally recognized as a service animal. The article was written by L. Hart, Thigpen, Willits, Lyons, Hertz-Picciotto, and B. Hart. In “Affectionate Interactions of Cats with Children Having Autism Spectrum Disorder”, the authors had focused on cats being used as a service and how they can benefit children with Autism spectrum disorder. The summary of the article, difference between service animals and how cat can benefit people with disability. To summarize the article, it was about service animals and children affected with autism spectrum disorder. “Affectionate Interactions of Cats with Children Having Autism Spectrum Disorder” talks about how dogs are big part of helping people with mental or physical disability, but they wanted to know if there were certain situations where other animals might be preferred over dogs and miniature horses, specifically cats. They conducted a research to see how cat improve a person with autism.
