Conflicts happen in every short story. There is an argument in “Seventh Grade” that is internal. An internal conflict happens in someone’s mind. In the story “Melting Pot” there is an external conflict. An external conflict happens in between two groups of people. The conflicts happen in a child’s mind in “Seventh Grade” and between the people on the streets in “Melting Pot”.

The opposition in “Seventh Grade” is Victor cannot be himself for he is trying to impress a girl. This story has a conflict ensures to have a winner because he gets to interact with Teresa. He also gets to tutor her for the reason that Mr. Bueller did not tell him off when he tried to speak French, because he knew what he was trying to accomplish and he understood.
