METHODOLOGY
Research Design The purpose of our research is a combination of descriptive, explanatory, and exploratory. We wish to identify possible causal variables of sexual assault among college students, observe and describe what happens to college students that identify within marginalized groups, and develop methods for a future study. We want to perform a longitudinal study, so we can study the effects of sexual assault to students during their entire college experience at a four-year university. Our unit of analysis is individual, because we want to study how individuals who identify differently than one another have differing experiences compared to one another. We will provide the participants with a nominal survey questionnaire.

Our desirable sample is 20,000, but this number is dependent on the number of voluntary participants from each university. There may be participants once the survey is complete.
Data Collection Instrumentation. Our survey has 13 closed ended questions, 8 about demographics and 5 about experiences regarding sexual assault. There is one open ended question regarding demographics. See Appendix A at the end of the paper. Process. The research collected will be collected from the largest public university in each of the 50 states. There will be a representative from each selected university who will be located at the university’s Title IX office, Gender Equality Center, or something of equal status. These representatives will oversee sending out the surveys and returning finalized surveys back to our research group. The surveys will be sent out via email and collected through an online survey that can be accessed through a link in the email. The study will be completely voluntary, anonymous, consensual, and confidential. In conjunction with the study done by Chang, E. et all, after asking for statistical information our survey will attempt to define sexual assault without specifically using the term sexual
