In the book Art and the Bible Francis Shaffer looks at the issue of Christians and art. This is to say that he looks at art and he looks at Christians and he tries to make us understand how it is that they should fit together. He looks at how Christians can help art to flourish, and he also looks at how art can help Christians to flourish. Art is something which is seen to be controversial from bone branch of faith to another. Shaffer knows this, but believes that Christians should be the people creating and partaking in art more than anyone else. Art and the Bible is a book by a man who has a love for God and art and wants so desperately to see them working together for the betterment of the world, while this argument may have some stance there are also ones made by those who disagree which also hold stance.
Throughout Schaeffer 's points there is a lot of thought, passion and effort put behind them. Readers could sense that his emotions were very heavily invested

He was familiar with the writings of Calvin, who appreciated art, but also disapproved in it's usage in places of worship. Calvin said, "But, as sculpture and painting are gifts of God, what I insist on is, that both shall be used purely and lawfully, that gifts which the Lord has bestowed upon us, for His glory and our good, shall not be preposterously abused, nay, shall not be perverted to our destruction." Shaeffer had put a lot of thought behind what he had said about art and knew that much of the protestant church believed that the usage of art in the church was problem. By those marks it is easy to look and see that he must have had his thoughts well educated on what the arguments could be from those who disagreed with him, and he did a good job defending his point of
