The television series Shameless is about a poor family making it through a difficult life in the South side of Chicago. The family consists of six children between the ages of five and twenty-three, who work together as family to keep the household intact. With no help from a careless mother, Monica, who left them, and an alcoholic father, Frank, things get out of hand and paying the bills gets tough. I admire this show because the number one thing I care about is family. My father and grandfather are both very strict on me about work ethic and being there for the family, so when times get tough, Shameless helps me recognize the true power of family and a positive outlook on life. Shameless helps me live the way I do because it shows me that I do not need the nice, fancy things in life, and that all I need is family. Yes, the expensive materialistic things are great to have, but they are not essential to living a good life. Shameless is important to me because it makes me realize how lucky I am to have the life that I do. This family somehow still finds a way to look at the positives in life when times get hard. This is the type of person I want to be in my own life. People may have more than me, but I know there are people out there that have less than me and are facing a much more difficult life.
