When does Alex think lying is okay? Why does Shaniqua think lying is wrong? With which do you agree more?
Alex and Shaniqua have conflicting ideologies surrounding whether lying is okay. Alex believes that lying is okay under the circumstances that the liar isn’t to be caught, as then the person who was lied to, wouldn’t have known any better. Alex thinks if they are lying for good reason such as the example used in the text of Alex lying that he thinks Shaniqua’s shirt is nice to shelter her feelings which to him is worth lying for. Contrary to Alex, Shaniqua thinks that lying is wrong, in the text Shaniqua discusses that lying is “breaking a good rule.” also stating the fact that the world would be crazy without rules against lying as we

In the case of philosopher C.S Pierce and philosopher René Descartes who posed the question of; how do you know whether or not your whole life is a dream? Pierce's response to the question was; it would not make a difference to our lives whether we are dreaming or not. Pierce not actually answering the question was because according to him it wasn’t a real question. In that, it made no difference to our existence. In the case of these questions, a pragmatist would respond with an answer addressing how it doesn't affect our current lives. For the first question they may say, would having the intelligent life on other planets affect how we live on earth? For the second a pragmatist would respond with something to the effect of, does the future of our solar system affect how we live or what if the sun did die, how would that affect us now? These two answers are very similar as they don’t directly answer the question as there is no definite answer to them and the answer isn’t seen as being practical or having a large impact on us as humans and our
