The movie Shaun of the Dead directed by Edgar Wright combines dual genres of horror and comedy with unrealistic narrative. The director used hyperbole to criticize the scary zombies and human life in this movie. The story begins with a main character Shaun who was disappointed with his mother and step-father, girlfriend who asked him to choose between her and the pub, flatmate, co-workers and Friends. He was only happy with his best friend Ed. Suddenly, the appearance of zombies turns the story of the movie. His family and friends turn into zombies after a zombie attack. Shaun and his girlfriend Liz survive as military force controls the situation by killing zombies and helps the couple. After six months, zombies were used as a cheap labor and entertainment. The role of satire in this movie is making a horrific and serious situation comedic by using verbal/visual humor, and ridiculous scenarios. In this way, the director makes a parody of other zombies from other movies. Shaun’s yawning, gait, and body posture was a satire to zombies creepy appearance in this movie. According to the zombie myth they are scary but in this movie zombies are shown in a stupid and jocular way throughout the movie which makes audience laugh instead of fear, for instance, zombies walk like drunk men and the motion of zombies is very slow. When zombies tries to reach Ed and Shaun they does silly things like they have enough time to walk or discuss like discussion about the phone that Ed received, choosing least-liked cds to throw on zombies which is also satire to the zombie feature as they walk very slow. The voice over verbal humor of Shaun’s imagination where his step-father is already changed into a zombie and he kills him with an apology in all three repetitions of plan as he hates his stepfather satirizes the relationship between a step parents and child.
