8.1 Outline procedures to be followed in the social care setting to prevent:

• Fire: In order to prevent a fire in the social care setting procedures would be followed which are things like having a no smoking policy within the building & grounds. Also making sure all electronics are PAT tested which means they are checked to see if they are faulty or not as faulty electricals are a major cause of fire.
• Gas leak: Make sure all appliances are working correctly & are turned off after every use.
• Floods: Make sure that all plugs are working properly during the daily checks as sometimes things can get stuck down them which makes the flow of water build up. Also knowing how to turn off the main water supply if required would also prevent floods from happening.

9.3 Describe ways to manage stress.
You can manage stress in many different ways. For instance, I sometimes leave things till the last minute which then may cause unnecessary stress due to having to complete something in a short space of time, so now I do the tasks in little sections so I am not left with a lot to do at the last minute.
I also like to listen to calm & slow tempo music which brings my stress levels down greatly.

The main points of agreed procedures about handling medication are that when it is running low, it needs ordering in again from the pharmacy & also how it is stored. Medication can also only be administered by the qualified members of staff on the shift that day. These are the people responsible for giving the correct medication to the patients & also the correct
