While the character development of the book is genuinely firm, the character development of the movie isn’t as strong. For example, in the movie, Cassie had allowed Evan to help her find Sammy but had eventually left him behind, telling him to not follow her. Cassie and Evan were in the woods when a group of people from the forest started attacking them. Seeing Evan take all of them out one by one, Cassie immediately started to distrust him, not having any clear reason.
