Maria Rodriguez Dominguez, also known as Nana Maria, has lived through the times of WWII, the Mexican American War, and the Cold War. Standing at the extraordinary height of 5'5, with her silky, dark hair that has carried on with her for decades, along with her wrinkly, soft skin. In the times that I visit, once in a while I walk into her room while she is praying the rosary in front of a picture of Mother Mary and Jesus Christ. Rarely do I walk out of her household without being given the blessing of God to watch over me, or ended a phone call with her not telling me, "Que Dios Te Bendiga." Even being the good Catholic that she is today, her childhood beliefs don't leave her. She grew up not having good role models, and created many bad habits such as cursing extensively.

Estabamos dormidos todos cuando de repente el bebe empeso a llorar, y miramos que todo el piso estabe lleno de pura agua," she said.
" Y todo las fotos, y recuerdos," my mom responded.
" Todo Alex, todo se la llevo", said my grandma, " Yo nomas pensando isi iva salir viva, estaba llorando porque yo pensava que no los voy a ver otravez"
Both of them began to cry, going through all of that, my mom did not leave her mind. My grandma has made it clear through many times such as that one that in every moment, every step she takes, she always thinks about my mom. She knows that whatever decision she takes, it will affect them both.
Nana Maria is one of the strongest women I have ever met, she reminds me a lot of my mom. I feel as my mom received all of her traits exactly as a gene copy from my grandma. The only weakness that she possesses is when she remembers of bad moments that occurred, and when someone in the family is in danger. In these moments she is like a completely different person. My Nana is someone that I look up to, and has become a major person in my
