In Richard Connell’s short story “The Most Dangerous Game,” physical strength, intelligence, and instincts are necessary for survival. Sanger Rainsford had to rely on physical strength to battle the elements. He then used his intelligence to outsmart his hunter so that he wouldn’t become the next trophy on a shelf. His natural instincts also played a key role in his survival. In the end, these things paid off, for he came out alive.
As Rainsford was being hunted by General Zaroff, he used physical strength in many different ways. An example was when he dug a hole with wooden stakes in the bottom for General Zaroff to fall in. This used physical strength because it was very difficult to dig the hole big enough for a man to completely fall into.
