Should Children Be Allowed In The Military

Besides the children being used to gun down the opposition, some others are spared and are used as cooks, spies and even sex slaves. As the adults are off watching over the captive children, some kids are chosen to cook for the militant groups. Being the cook of a military group is the most favored position as there is less of a risk of getting injured despite that most cooks double as soldiers for the lack of work. Since children are much more nimble and smaller than the adults, some are used as spies. Out of all the positions and roles the children are given, being a spy is the most dangerous. If a child happens to get caught by the opposition, he or she will most certainly face some form of punishment ranging from getting detained to being tortured and killed. Marc Ellison writes on account of an Ugandan girl that”Almost every girl that is a part of a military group are used as sex slaves for the adult generals and commanders.” The females of the military groups get heavily abused and mistreated, far more than the men do. The crimes the children may commit goes beyond killing others without a cause as the crimes carry on spying on local governments. Since kids are more susceptible to certain situations when compared to adults, they are often times more preferred to be recruited as a soldier.
Adults have had more experiences and more knowledge than kids, therefore the children are more preferred to be a soldier than the adult as they are more ignorant and do not know any better. Since children are more ignorant than adults, they are easier to manipulate than the adults. In some cases, the commanders and generals in control over the child soldiers often would influence the children by forcing drugs and alcohol in order to make them more likely to go about a situation.
