The reality of colleges having reliable security for the safety of the students is not commonly thought of, yes some colleges have different protocols compared to other campuses around the United States but these colleges most definitely are not as safe as the general public may suspect. School shootings seem to be a number one priority to most colleges as something they try to prevent, according to Every Town Research, from 2013 to 2015 more than 160 school shootings occurred. 47% of these shootings occurred at some type of college or university. Therefore, people have different opinions on whether these mass colleges should come up with evacuation plans to exit campus buildings if a shooter were to enter one of them, or if the colleges should allow on campus concealed-carry of firearms for administrators …show more content…
How many lives could be sparred if outsiders knew that these colleges had employees and or students that carried firearms? Typical naysayers will stand against the idea of firearms on campuses for the simple fact that everyone has different ethical opinions and if they think its ethically wrong to let professors and students carry firearms then that person will have a completely different opinion compared to someone else that thinks firearms can stop incoming threats to valuable students and faculty. Everyone typically knows what is right ethically and that is to protect colleges from shootings and other horrible crimes, but you will obviously have people that will debate about the issue or allowing on campus carry at these colleges. Students and teachers should be able to conceal carry firearms on campus to protect themselves from danger. School shootings are a big problem, colleges are rushing to install and implement warning systems and procedures that will in turn be pointless, and these same colleges are expelling students which are only making matters
