According to a survey done by the Asotin High School Junior English Class, about thirty percent of middle school students are having around five caffeinated drinks a week, and around twelve percent of students are drinking more than six caffeinated drinks. This may not seem like a lot, but to a parent, it should be alarming information. Students in middle school are between the ages of twelve and fifteen years old, this is a crucial age that parents and teachers need to teach their children that healthy choices are much beneficial than unhealthy ones. When children are in a middle school stage of their lives, a lot of things are changing for them, whether it is hormones in the body or social changes as well. It is extremely important that we teach these kids to make the right decisions that they can carry into their teenage lives. Back when I was in middle school, we were only allowed to bring and drink water into the classroom, everything else was either thrown away or left in your locker. Over the years, this has become much more lack between the teachers, if we want kids to be making healthy choices, there needs to be a change.
