Do you remember the times having to give your grandma a ride wherever she needed to go because she couldn’t do it herself? Then you would tell them to go take the bus wherever they needed to go, but they would tell you no every time because they didn’t like paying for the bus. Many elderly people can’t drive anymore because of certain conditions. Whether because their eyesight is going bad or because of certain health conditions, elderly people should be allowed to ride the bus for free, and I’ll explain why. Yes elderly should be allowed to get rides for free for a few reasons. One, retired elderly don’t make anymore money. Their just living on their savings. Which means that paying to ride the bus every time can add up to quite a lot. Plus, since they are retired, they usually have plenty of time on …show more content…
Some people believe the elderly should pay for bus rides because everyone else has to. People out there feel that it isn’t right for them to get rides for free when other people do not. Why should they get rides for free when pregnant women, poor people, injured people, and people who just can’t drive have to pay? These are some of the questions people will ask. Some people also think that some of the elderly will take advantage of free bus rides like riding some of the more expensive busses to go across country. But, in my opinion, they are wrong. The elderly have been around a long time and worked hard to earn the money they have now. I’m also pretty sure they don’t make all that money just to spend a good fraction of it just to ride a bus. Also, riding the bus is the only way most elderly people can even get anywhere. Unlike old people, pregnant women and poor people can still drive.
