Should Electoral College Be Abolished

The electoral college has been around for a long time and it was created by the founding fathers. The country is set to rely on the people for their opinions and their voices. However, the electoral college votes are unfair to the citizens of the United States. Having the electoral college process, we are not letting the people have their say in who they want as president with the popular vote. We should not keep the electoral college and change it to popular vote because it's unfair to people, outdated and does not guarantee the people's choice will be elected.

One of the reasons the electoral college should be removed from the voting system because it’s old and outdated. The electoral college is not democratic because it goes by the electoral vote and not the popular vote, which is what the people want the most. According to source 3 it says “ it is the electors who elect the president, not the people”( Page 3). This is informing us that the people really do not have a say in who they want president. According to source 3 it says “ which would greatly complicate the presidential election process, is reduced by the electoral college, which invariably produces a clear winner” ( Page 5). This is explaining that the electoral college makes it easier on making a clear winner for the election. However, the electoral college should be abolished because it is outdated, unfair to the people and does not always elect the people's choice as president. Even Though, the electoral college does present a clear winner, but it is not fair that the electors vote for the president and not the people. The popular vote would be better because it should be what the people think and their political views on who they want to be
