Genetic engineering is really common in people’s daily lives, and it has been used in many different aspects such as agriculture, medicine and society. Therefore, genetic engineering should not be limited because it has many advantages. First of all, because of the genetic engineering, genetically modified foods are more nutrition, it makes farmers use less pesticide, and it can prevent damage of diversity of plants. In addition, because of the GM technology, many diseases can be cured and prevented; the most important part is that it can improve species, such as human’s ability and immunization. What is more, because genetic engineering can increase the food production, the problem of world’s hunger will be solved, and the wealth gap will be reduced. It also can protect environment. Key word: Genetic Engineering, agriculture, medicine, and society.

Should Genetic Engineering be Tight Restricted?
Have you ever eaten seedless watermelons? Not like tradition watermelon, it is much sweeter, and it does not have any seeds. These are the contributions of genetic engineering. Since last 1700s, scientists have begun to study on genetic engineering. They have made a lot of improvements in genetic engineering, such as genetically modified food or cloning animal. Nowadays, genetic engineering has been used in many different aspects, such as medicine, industry, agriculture, environmental protection and energy. Even though some people think that genetic engineering needs to be restricted because it has some unknown risks, genetic engineering should not be tightly restricted because it is beneficial for agriculture, medicine and society. Although some environmentalists think genetic engineering may break the structure of plants, in fact it is more conducive for the program of agriculture. Genetic engineering can make food more nutrition. According to Howarth E. Bouis, Bruce M. Chassy and James O. Ochamda, improving the iron content of rice by transferring the entire coding sequence of the soybean ferritin gene into Japonica rice. The introduced ferritin gene was expressed under the control of a rice seed storage protein glutelin promoter, to mediate the accumulation of iron specifically in the grain. The transgenic seeds stored up to three times more iron than normal seeds. (As cited in Bouis, Chassy and Ochamda,2003, p. 197)
Compared with normal crops, genetically modified crops have the characteristics of higher proportion in the same kinds of elements, such as iron, calcium or protein. Those are beneficial to efficient absorption of human body. Also, genetic engineering can help farmers reduce using pesticide. To seek profit, many farmers use pesticides to control weeds, but some pesticides will be absorbed by crops which can be bad for human’s health; so instead of using pesticides, today people can put herbicide resistance into crops’ gene which can make crops themselves have antibody to control weeds. In some circumstances, the amount of herbicide resistance application has been reduced because it is possible for herbicide resistance may become useful and effective (Pimentel et al 1989, p.606). This means that more and more farmers will use herbicide resistant crops, and our food will be healthier because of fewer pesticides. What is more, genetic engineering can preserve genetic diversity of plants. Various genes of crops have decreased remarkably because of the traditional plant breeding techniques. (Pimentel et al, 1989, p.609) Through the genetic engineering, many different kinds of crops’ genes will be saved. Therefore, genetic engineering has developed agriculture.
Some people think that genetic engineering cannot be used in medicine; however, many evidences show that genetic engineering can facilitate the development of medicine. It has been used in many medicinal treatments. Many human diseases, such as cancer, heart attacks, hemophilia, rheumatoid arthritis, pandemic flu, malaria and small pox can
