This paper is about why the minimum wage should be increased. The majority of US people support raising the minimum wage. Also most adults would benefit from an increase in minimum wage, about 9 out of 10 people that would benefit are adults so it's not just targeting new workers. Currently the minimum wage is 7.25 the last time it was increased was in July of 2009. People say that increasing the minimum wage to 15 dollars would cost 7 million jobs but if the minimum wage was just increased to 11.50 way less jobs would be lost. Because of this people will learn to work harder instead of sitting around and doing nothing at work. They know that if they do do nothing there's a greater chance of getting fired because the wages are higher. A raise in minimum wage would help to reduce race and gender inequality. Despite representing 47% of US workers, women make up 63% of minimum wage workers. If the minimum wage was increased female poverty would decrease. African Americans represent 17.7% of minimum wage earners. If the minimum wage was increased african americans and americans pay would be more equal. First of all, I think the minimum wage needs to be increased , the majority of the US supports an increase of minimum wage. Second, A minimum wage increase would help equalize race equality because than blacks and hispanics would make more equalizing the pay of americans to balance race equality. Third, It would reduce poverty because the more money poor people have the less poor they are. Last, a worker working full time on minimum wage is not able to pay for rent in a one-bedroom apartment.
