Vaccinations are a particularly controversial topic these days. These controversies have occurred several years before the terms vaccine and vaccination were even introduced to us. Vaccinations are an important topic to talk about, especially for those who are planning to become pregnant, have newborns, and even those who have young children. It is important for parents to have the access to the information about the risks and benefits that these vaccines provide. Ultimately, this controversy revolves around the simple question, “Should you vaccinate you child or not?” For the most part people would say that yes, you should vaccinate your child, but there are still a majority of people who would strongly disagree. For those who oppose vaccinating their children, some of the questions they propose are their effectiveness, safety, and the actual necessity of the recommend vaccines. According to the CDC, all vaccines carry a risk of a life-threating allergic reaction in about one per million children They also bring up the point that vaccinations violate the individual rights, medical decisions, and religious freedoms of the individual. …show more content…
Organizations such as the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Academy of Family Physicians, and the Center of Disease Control and Prevention all strongly support protecting children with recommended vaccinations. Children who are not vaccinated can spread diseases to others who are either too young to be vaccinated or to people with weaker immune systems, such as transplant recipients or people with cancer. Unfortunately this could result in long-term complications and even
