The U.S. Constitution established America’s government. It is responsible for the fundamental laws and guarantees basic rights for U.S. citizens. I believe that our government would be very different than it is today. We as humans need some framework from the government to tell us what we can and cannot do. There would be no foundation for our government to build on if there was no national constitution. It wouldn’t state how the government should be run. It would be complete chaos. I believe that the thirteen original colonies would be thirteen different states. There wouldn’t be a “United” States. If that didn’t happen then the President would have too much power and be looked as a God or a King. This would lead into a militant dictatorship. If there was no national constitution that means there is no Bill of Rights. All of our amendments and rights we know now wouldn’t exist. We might be forced to follow a certain religion because we wouldn’t have freedom of religion. We wouldn’t be able to speak our minds or have a say because we wouldn’t have the freedom of speech. Government agents could come into our house without a search warrant and no authority to be there at anytime of day. Our newspapers would talk about how amazing our country is and how well the president is running country because we would have no control over the press. If we are convicted of a crime it could take months or even years to get a fair trial since we would have no rights to a speedy trial. The 8th amendment states, “Excessive bail shall not be required, not excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted”. With no Bill of Rights they could punish us and torture us anyway they would like. Alliances would be tough because we would have no stability, which would lead to no
