Your true love should be the one person who you should be able to be completely yourself around. I think this is perfectly shown in both 10 Things I Hate About You and Taming of the Shrew because of how the two main characters bring out their true selves in each other. Over time, from the Elizabethan era when the original Taming of the Shrew was written, to 1967 when the first film adaptation was released, and then to 1999 when the more modern 10 Things I Hate About You version was released, societies view on femininity and masculinity have changed dramatically.
