The towns in each stories are truly different than one another. They were very polite and would not act on their prompts in the story “Neighbor Rosicky” by Willa Cather. Also, they were all close neighbors and did not get in each others business. Although, in the story A Rose for Emily by William Faulkner, the town is in each other beeswax and they want everyone to act the same. They would not even let Miss Emily stay in her house! The town wanted Miss Emily to mingle with the other people in the town.
The town was really easy going and just did not care what other people thought of each other. Willa Cather states in the short story “Neighbor Rosicky”, “They were rather free and easy, weren’t pushers, and they didn’t always show good judgment.
