Similarities Between Anne Frank And The Outsiders

How would you feel if you had to go into hiding? You can’t go outside or go on social media, you can’t go to the movies or out to dinner, and your friends can’t visit you. Ponyboy Curtis, from The Outsiders, and Anne Frank, from The Diary of Anne Frank play, had to experience this at a young time period in their life. You may not have noticed it but, they had to go into hiding for similar and different reasons, but they both had to deal with the problem of becoming fugitives. Ponyboy Curtis and Anne Frank have many similarities, but they also have multiple differences that appear in both books.
Anne Frank was in hiding for more than two years. She went into hiding in Amsterdam, Netherlands in the year 1942. People of her religion were being captured and tortured. They were sent to concentration camps, and tricked into showers full of poison, and gassed to death. Now, you can see why Anne and her family would want to get away from that. They both were complete opposites at the start of each book, but by the end, they began to be more like each other. They both were full of hope, they believed that there was more good then there was bad. In The Diary of Anne Frank play, the last thing you hear from Anne is, “In spite of everything, I still believe that people are really good at heart.” Also, in The Outsiders the last thing you hear from Johnny(Ponyboy’s best friend), is him telling Ponyboy to “stay gold.” This not only means to stay young, but it means to stay pure. Don’t let other people change you, and most importantly is not to change yourself for others. They both were kind and pure. They both were gold, and they believed that there was gold
