I decided to study the trials of two very strong-willed women Anne Hutchinson and Susan B. Anthony. In 1637 a puritan woman, Anne Hutchinson through her persistence to be heard, would not realize the sacrifice she had to endure to stand up against her male dominate society would be initially one of the first times a woman was standing for her rights. Anne Hutchinson was put on trial because she was challenging the authority of John Winthrop. John Winthrop was afraid he was going to lose control of his church in Boston, especially to a woman.
