What Moliere and Voltaire have in common? After reading the two stories, I noticed that Moliere and Voltaire have something in common. Both of the main characters from each of the stories depend greatly on their teacher or on an influential teacher. In Moliere Orgon developed a fast unconditional trust for Tartuffe. He was becoming obsessed with him. He thought that he was of holy man. The way Tartuffe was acting when he meets Orgon, made Orgon believe that he so innocent and pure. Tartuffe always comes to church and knelt because he was in need of things. Orgon family did not trust Tartuffe like Orgon did. When Pangloss and Candide were apart from each other, can did always talk about his Pangloss philosophy. He believed that everything that happens for the best and he also believed that everyone is free and equal. During his journey with Martin, every time when something goes wrong Candide tell Martine that it happen for the best. The reason why he kept on saying that is because he Remember Pangloss say the same thing every time something bad happen. For example when the earthquake happen Pangloss told everyone it’s for the best. At the end of the story Candide learned that things got worse. When He and Cunegonde went through a lot of things. Cunegonde has been sale has a slave and she became old and ugly by the time she and Candide married each other. They thought that they would live a happy every afterlife based on Pangloss theory, but after everything they went through they live with no happy ever after. Candide decided to reject Pangloss philosophy and take the advice of a farmer. He chooses to enjoy the gardens. Both of the character were blind by their teacher.
